EMC-20H Feature Selection Guide

Feature Selection Guide

The EMC-20H is designed to grow with the diver as his/her diving experience progresses the EMC-20H's can be enhanced to keep step with the progress. The "upgrade-ability" prevents the diver from buying "too much" or "too little" dive computer. By answering the following questions the diver can make an informed decision as to which configuration of the EMC-20H is right for them.

  1. Do you dive Nitrox?
If NO, the Air only configuration is for you.
If NO, but I plan to get certified shortly. Then the single-gas FO2 should be considered.
If YES, go to the next question.
  2. Do you Dive more than one Nitrox mixes per dive?
If NO, Only one, Then the single-gas FO2 should be your choice.
If YES, then the 2-FO2 configuration is for you.
  3. Can the EMC-20H be used with my semi-closed circuit rebreather?
Yes, semi-closed circuit rebreathers use a constant FO2 Nitrox blend, again if you only dive one mix per dive, the single gas-FO2 configuration is for you.
  4. Do you dive a closed circuit rebreather?
If NO, there is no need to consider a EMC-20H with the Constant PO2 feature.
If YES, go to the next question
  5. How many PO2s do you use per dive?
If only one then the One-FO2 / One-PO2 configuration will fill the bill. If your CCR unit can handle two different PO2s per dive then you will need the Two-FO2 /Two-PO2 version.
  6. Do you dive a Open-Ciruit Heliox or Trimix?
If NO, there is no need to consider a EMC-20H with Helium PO2 feature.
If YES, go to the next question
  7. How many different Gas Blends do you use per dive?
If only one then the One-FO2 with Helium should be your choice.
If two or more then you will need the Three-FO2 /Two-PO2 with Helium version.
  8. Do you dive a closed circuit rebreather with Heliox or Trimix Diluent?
If NO, there is no need to consider a EMC-20H with Helium.
If YES, go to the next question
  9. How many PO2s with do you use per dive?
If only one then the One-FO2 / One-PO2 with Helium configuration will fill the bill. If your CCR unit can handle two different PO2s per dive then you will need the Three-FO2 /Two-PO2 version.
  10. Does color make a difference?
The color of the Wrist Unit is strictly a matter of diver preference.
  11. Which mounting method is right for you?
Again as with color, it is a matter of diver preference.
If your a "reach under the rocks and in hole" type you will probably not want a wrist mounted unit.
You may want the Hose Mount version or a two gauge or three gauge console
If keeping things streamlined is your aim, then one of the Retractor mounted versions need consideration.
  12. Why offer two colors of Backlight?
Individuals with red-light night-vision problems have the option of having the unit equipped with a Yellow Backlight.
  13. How much memory do I need?
While the EMC-20H has the capability of storing dive profiles for a maximum of 1450 dive hours. Some divers who regularly use our Analyst® PC software may not want as much.
However, there is a certain comfort knowing that your dive computer is retaining ALL of your dives.

With the answers to these questions your authorized Cochran Dealer will assist you in selecting a EMC-20H configured with the features to match your diving needs. Remember, all EMC-20H's can be enhanced and upgraded as your diving experiences progress.
